A little story to start your day. When Peter and I were first dating he loved to surf. Often times I would go and just soak up being with him and watching him out there. We would joke about having little kiddos and getting them out on the water.
On the day of our wedding, he surfed all morning and then took a shower at the beach, changed into his tux and became my husband for eternity. We were students, didn't have much money and years later found ourselves with those five little kiddos we dreamed about.
With not much money we wondered what could we do as a family that would mean something and make memories, so we raised them at the beach. They surfed, swam, boogie boarded, snorkeled, and played in the sand endlessly - that's what we could afford. We couldn't do elaborate vacays so we did the beach.
Peter has always wanted his own custom board and now after 28 years of marriage, we have started our Daland Nation custom surfboard company. It's a baby - barely able to walk but it's on its feet toddling forward. I'm not sure what the future holds for this little company, but in my dreams, it lasts long enough to give back to those kiddos of ours who we adore, cherish and love to be with.
